Only Human

“He who is once bitten by love’s snake, never heals.”
Gustav Vigeland 1869-1943

Gustav Vigeland was a sculptor whose main life work can be seen at the Vigeland Sculptor Park in Oslo, Norway. Although Vigeland refused to explain his work, the theme of the sculptures reflects the journey in life from cradle to grave. Trying to interpret intent is a common game among park-goers.

And sometimes there is a reward. Two pots of gold at the end of my street.
To see the other end of the rainbow, step over here.

This week’s Corner View theme is “The end of your street”. Stroll down some other streets in the blogs below. For even more, drop by Jane at Spain Daily.

It Could Happen

“The other day when I was walking through the woods, I saw a rabbit standing in front of a candle making shadows of people on a tree.”
Stephen Wright 1955-

I missed the rabbit.

Interior Struggle

“Part of the secret of success in life is to eat what you like and let the food fight it out inside”
Mark Twain 1835-1910

in the midst of abundance.”

This abundant collection of Buddha masks belongs to a street vender in Thailand.

Possession

“Color possesses me. I don't have to pursue it. It will possess me always, I know it. That is the meaning of this happy hour: Color and I are one. I am a painter.”
Paul Klee 1879-1940

I think we are all possessed by color. We are all one with color whether we are painters or not. Right?

To Understand Painting

“Everyone wants to understand painting. Why is there no attempt to understand the song of the birds?”
Pablo Picasso 1881-1973

Evolution Debunked

If evolution really works, how come mothers only have two hands?
Milton Berle 1908-2002

In my world wide search for bare breasted statues, I found this couple in the Lake District in England. It was in a pile of rubbish behind the B&B we stayed in. I can’t recommend the B&B but the Lake District is gorgeous.

Not Deep

"I must be a mermaid, Rango. I have no fear of depths and a great fear of shallow living."
Anaïs Nin 1903-1977

I found this fearful mermaid in Las Vegas where shallow living is an art form.

Shadow Cycling

“Life is like riding a bicycle: you don't fall of unless you stop pedaling.”
Claude Pepper 1900-1989

It’s also true that you can never get off until you stop pedaling.

A Garden

"The kiss of the sun for pardon,
The song of the birds for mirth,
One is nearer God's heart in a garden
Than anywhere else on earth."
Dorothy Frances Gurney 1858-1932

New and Improved

The young do not know enough to be prudent, and therefore they attempt the impossible - and achieve it, generation after generation.
Pearl S. Buck 1892-1973

This is a portrait of my son and grandson. Tomorrow is the little guy’s first birthday!
