Sorry About That

“Rainbows apologize for angry skies.”
Sylvia Voirol

I have no idea who Sylvia Voirol is. She could be a poet or a philosopher or a scientist or a mass murderer. She seems to be known for this quote but I couldn’t find anything else about her. Anybody know?

Adoption

“The family you come from isn't as important as the family you're going to have”
Ring Lardner 1885-1933

This is ‘Ilio the dog (‘ilio means “dog” in Hawaiian) and Lucy the lamb (in honor of Lucille Ball). Lucy was rejected by her mother but ‘Ilio doesn’t mind taking over.

Papohaku

"For whatever we lose (like a you or a me)
it's always ourselves we find in the sea.”
E. E. Cummings 1894-1962

I’m back! We had a wonderful time in Hawaii. This is a crowded day on Papohaku Beach on Molokai. Papohaku Beach is over two miles long and is practically empty. I had to wait a while for this couple to come along and balance out my photo.

I was fulfilled about a minute later.

Still Standing

“A house divided against itself cannot stand.”
Abraham Lincoln 1809-1865

But half a house can. This optimistic viewpoint was taken in beautiful Scotland.

Stop and Think

“All words are pegs to hang ideas on.”
Henry Ward Beecher 1813-1887

Who says bicyclists don’t stop at stop signs?

Error Prone

“To err is human - but it feels divine”
Mae West 1893-1980

But this sign is no mistake. If you had a hardware store, what would you name it?
