Getting Dark

A day without sunshine is like, you know, night.
Steve Martin 1945-

This is a bit of end of the day drama, down under in Australia.

Steps of Color

“The path of a good woman is indeed strewn with flowers; but they rise
behind her steps, not before them”
John Ruskin 1819-1900

Not so fast John- in this case they are before them. These steps can be
found in the Cotswolds, England.

A Twofer

“Sensual pleasures have the fleeting brilliance of a comet; a happy marriage has the tranquility of a lovely sunset.”
Ann Landers 1918-2002

Might as well aim for both.

To see more Sunday sunsets check out Scott's blog at Finding Another View.

“After enlightenment, the laundry.”
Zen Proverb

You are enlightened, right? OK, then you’re ready for this.

Blue

"Remember that there is an outside world to see and enjoy."
Hans Liepmann 1914-2009

I'm headed towards the outside world today. Off to Hawaii again (can't get enough).
I'll be posting some precious pics from the past while I'm gone.

Rock Climbing

"The difference between a mountain and a molehill is your perspective."
Al Neuharth

I came across this rock pile and climber on Asilomar Beach near Pacific Grove.

Dog Collection

“Dachshunds are ideal dogs for small children, as they are already stretched and pulled to such a length that the child cannot do much harm one way or the other.”
Robert Benchley 1889-1945

These Dachshunds are stretched to over seven feet tall. They used to hang out in front of Doggie Diner restaurants but are now gathered on a trailer on Treasure Island happily waiting for an invitation to a parade.

A Real Hazard

“While playing golf today I hit two good balls. I stepped on a rake.”
Henny Youngman 1906-1998

Another good reason not to play golf. This ball shaped bunker guards
the first hole of the Links at Spanish Bay.

True Nature

“For in the true nature of things, if we rightly consider, every green tree is far more glorious than if it were made of gold and silver.”
Martin Luther King, Jr. 1929-1968

This bit of glory is part of Point Lobos State Reserve on the California coast.

Still Kickin'

“Get a bicycle. You will not regret it if you live.”
Taming the Bicycle
Mark Twain 1835-1910

Leaning into it with some of the survivors at
the Fast and Furious bike race in Pleasanton, CA.

Beauty's Condiment

“Strangeness is the indispensable condiment of all beauty.”
Charles Baudelaire 1821-1867

Floating flowers are only a little strange.

Shapes

"I was not ready for abstraction. I clung to earth and her dear shapes, her density, her herbage, her juice. I wanted her volume, and I wanted to hear her throb."
Emily Carr 1871-1945

For me, reality and abstraction are all part of the same thing. One feeds the other.
I like the lines and color of the California coast in this photograph.

Sun Shine

“May the sun shine all day long,
everything go right and nothing wrong.
May those you love bring love back to you,
and may all the wishes you wish come true!”
Irish Blessing
