Only Human

“He who is once bitten by love’s snake, never heals.”
Gustav Vigeland 1869-1943

Gustav Vigeland was a sculptor whose main life work can be seen at the Vigeland Sculptor Park in Oslo, Norway. Although Vigeland refused to explain his work, the theme of the sculptures reflects the journey in life from cradle to grave. Trying to interpret intent is a common game among park-goers.

  1. Looks like sculptures of a few of the acrobats and other fun people you can find in one of the parcs in Barcelona :)

  3. For some reason the song "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" comes to mind. LOL! The Europeans certainly have a different attitude about art than we do here in the U.S. Myself and my wife found ourselves explaining that to our children often when we lived in Germany and traveled around. Fun shots, glad you shared them and I hope nobody tags your blog as "inappropriate". ;^)

  4. Fantastic! Great photo and great to see those works in a park ... I love the idea of having a picnic with friends and making up stories and meanings to go with pieces of art. Inspiring!

  7. Nice photo; quite sexy too. I was there a long time ago. The Yorkshire Sculpture Park in England might also interest you.

  8. Love this work and that is leaves something (or a lot) for the imagination!
The girl fits great in the picture and the black and white almost makes her one of the statues, very smart :)!

  10. Just imagine being the models modelling for these sculptures ... rather interesting poses!! A little kama sutric(if there is such a word) but very good!
