The Spectator

“It is the spectator, and not life, that art really mirrors”
Oscar Wilde 1854-1900

I came across the artist Anthony Holdsworth painting this San Francisco scene. The red brick building is St. Patrick’s Church dedicated in 1872 and the modern building behind it is the Marriott “Jukebox” hotel. Mission Street is usually busy with traffic but he synchronized his vision with the traffic lights to make the street seem nearly deserted.

  1. Oh, I should very much like to come across such a fine artist whilst he is at work. Nice shot!

  2. impressive synchro. a little eerie, perhaps, but just as striking.
    ah, oscar!

  3. Your photo shows two great artists at the same time.

Thanks for your encouraging comment on my post.

Say what?
