Early to Rise

“Rise early. It is the early bird that catches the worm. Don't be fooled by this absurd saw; I once knew a man who tried it. He got up at sunrise and a horse bit him.”
Mark Twain 1835-1910

I got up early and the early bird did get the worm. The early worm should have slept in.

  1. You must have an amazing lens, long distance or what ever it is called... To get this lovely close up. If you were anywhere near, that bird would have zipped away.

In this photo, it looks like you could have bent over and petted it on the head! :-)

  4. What a pretty shade of blue on that bird.
I'm with Samuel Clemmens, all you get when you rise early, is worms.

  5. The lens was not that long-70mm. I thought the bird was up to something because he didn't fly away as I slowly approached. The desire for breakfast was bigger than the fear of this two legged creature. He did keep an eye on me though.

  12. Look at that precious little face. Amazing capture! Last spring I photographed some baby birds that hatched in a plant on my porch. I'm not a talented photographer by any means, but here are the links to the two blog posts if you're interested in seeing the little guys:
