Oh what a good dog, and I'll bet that tile floor felt nice and cool.
Isn't it amazing how visually stirring many places of worship are? In this age of instant images, and mass media, I think we tend to forget that for the vast majority of human history, a sight like that would be awe-inspiring, truly making someone feel closer to the divine. Or at least appreciating the spark of the divine within those who built it.
Now we say "Oh, what a great picture!" and it truly is but there was a time that that image existed only within the confines of a person's mind, and he or she found a way to make it real. Make it solid.
Maybe that's what the dog is thinking about :-)
