Reflection

I have always preferred the reflection of the life to life itself.
Francois Truffaut 1932-1984

This is a sideways view of a Norwegian hillside reflected in a motionless lake. I added yellow and blue because they are complimentary (opposite) colors in the additive color system. If you stare at the middle of this picture for about 30 seconds and then move your cursor over the image you should see an afterimage of the compliments of these colors. The blue will become yellow and the yellow will become blue. The afterimage will fade after a second or two. It's a reflection in your head.

This picture can also be viewed as a Rorschach test. What do you see?

True Beauty

“People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.”
Elisabeth Kubler-Ross 1926-2004

There is no light from within for this stain-glass window. It is hung outdoors in the Forest of Dean, England.

Four-Legged

"I would rather see the portrait of a dog that I know, than all the allegorical paintings they can show me in the world."
Samuel Johnson

This is a portrait of Sia, who lives with my son’s family. I like the way,
when the light is right, her black coat shines.

With One Extra

“May you live to be a hundred years, with one extra to repent.”
Irish toast

I usually post every other day but I thought I’d sneak this one in while it’s still St. Paddy’s Day where I live. This rainbow landed off the west coast of County Clare, Ireland.

Trash Talking

“Trash has given us an appetite for art”
Pauline Kael 1919-2001

Have you packed your trash?  This seems like pretty good advice for life in general.

Long Ago

“Tombs are the clothes of the dead; a grave is but a plain suit;
a rich monument is an embroidered one”
Thomas Fuller 1608-1661

This dolmen in County Clare Ireland may not be fancy but it has
stood the test of time. It is believed to date back to 2500 BC.

On My Kitchen Counter

“I'm at the age where food has taken the place of sex in my life. In fact, I've just had a mirror put over my kitchen table.”
Rodney Dangerfield 1921-2004

I'm reflecting on my latest happy meal.

This weeks theme for Corner View is "on my kitchen counter". There's more counter intuitiveness on the blogs below. Thanks to francesca for hosting.
