Motion

“Two stars keep not their motion in one sphere.”
William Shakespeare 1564-1616

Two speedboats race along the River Wye which forms part of the border between England and Wales. I like the contrasts in this one- the still river, the speeding boats and the clouds and sky reflected in the water.

This weeks theme for Corner View is "motion". There's more motion in the blogs below. Thanks to Francesca for hosting, Cole for choosing the theme and Jane for getting this whole thing started.

  1. This is awesome! You've captured so much in one photo. The reflections are incredible, but I think I like even more the pattern of the wake of the two boats. I can 'feel' the wind and 'hear' the roar of the engine. This photo is almost surreal--I love it!

  10. super nice, Don, and what a great lesson: motion is more than just blur. Still - I'd guess ... no more than a split second? :)

  11. Great photo! It took my brain a little while to realize what I was looking at...first I saw the sky, then my mind was trying to tell me that the reflections of the bushes were the horizon...then it saw the boats and worked it out!

  14. Oh yes, this picture is perfect : the colors, the confusion of "up" and "down" and the structures of clouds, water, trees… beautiful! have a nice day! swig

  15. I like the way you see all the motion here, the boat, sky and even the stillness of the water (also water is in motion too!)

  16. Amazing photo!
I love how there's also a stillness though everything is in movement, like the center of a spinning wheel that is in perfect balance.

  17. Lovely shot, and lovely comments. I think we all "feel" motion intensely, from time to time.

  18. I love the popularity of speedboats in Britain on lakes and rivers. My motion's a bit more ground-based . . .
