The Laws of Proportion

“Nothing that grieves us can be called little: by the eternal laws of proportion a child's loss of a doll and a king's loss of a crown are events of the same size”
Mark Twain 1835-1910

Another way of saying that everything is relative. This doll was not really lost but was an item for sale in my wife’s consignment store, as was the chair. Both the doll and the chair are long gone now.

  1. Both great finds, love the quote on laws of proportion too.

  2. Love the quote, love the doll, love the chair. The quote I can take with me.

  3. wishing you a wonderful 2012 don!
    big hugs!

  4. I love her! I see you are in good company!

  5. What an interesting combination. I'm sure both have gone to "A better place". Have a happy New Year Don.
