The Laws of Proportion

“Nothing that grieves us can be called little: by the eternal laws of proportion a child's loss of a doll and a king's loss of a crown are events of the same size”
Mark Twain 1835-1910

Another way of saying that everything is relative. This doll was not really lost but was an item for sale in my wife’s consignment store, as was the chair. Both the doll and the chair are long gone now.
