Charles de Lint 1951-
You probably learned that already, somewhere along the way.
The destination of this particular road is Death Valley which pretty much demands contemplation of the journey.

ReplyDeleteI love this quote. I guess this is one lesson I have learned as I am getting older is that the journey is just as important as the destination. I wish I could have learned this lesson when I was in my 20's would have made things much easier. Have a happy week!
ReplyDeleteEarthquake?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love this kind of perspectives! Have a nice week!
ReplyDeleteThat's Tao ;)
ReplyDelete10 years in Cali and never made it to Death Valley.
ReplyDeleteIncredible view! that black and white is perfect!
ReplyDeleteI hope you didn't lie on the street when taking the shot?! Okay, it seems you'd see a car coming already a week ealier! ;o)
ReplyDeleteMy parents have been to Death Valley and were impressed.

ReplyDeleteincredible photo!
ReplyDeleteand i love the text with it!
Great picture!!!
ReplyDeletegreat photo ... and wise words :)
ReplyDeleteThis is an incredible photo shot! There are so many layers to it--I could just keep staring at it! The left lane looks like a wall -- I guess due to the angle of the picture.
ReplyDeleteWonderful and also true ---you do have to consider your destination and the journey when you're crossing a desert.
it's hard not to live in cali (esp southern california) and consider the journeys made on foot, horseback and wagon through death valley to get here. those peeps was rugged! i think they must have much preferred their destination (arrival at) to the voyage out!
ReplyDeleteOh, stunning and disquieting perspective!
ReplyDeleteThe destination of this route is mythical!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful photo, reminds me of Forrest Gump.
ReplyDelete- Run Forrest, run!
what a wonderful photo... i always think death valley sounds so ominous - but you have made it beautiful in black and white.
ReplyDeleteFabulous. A great photo and even better on an angle.. and in B&W.. perfect!
ReplyDeleteI love the quote and the dramatic photo.
ReplyDeleteThe echoing of the road and the mountains is great .
A gesture that in Japanese is lucky for the "widening" of the triangle shape as it opens. The number 8 is 八 、like the road and mountains in your picture. Happy journeys!
death valley is a mystery to me... i once upon a time passed a place called nobody somewhere in the far west and felt it thought provoking enough already... ;)
ReplyDeleten♥
